Scam card
Five rules. Read them before you pay.
- Real banks, Medicare, the IRS and tech companies do not call and demand money or gift cards. A caller who does is a scammer.
- Stop. Hang up. Call back on a number you already trust, like the one on your bank card.
- Do not click links in texts or emails you did not expect. A link can lead to a fake website.
- Never let a stranger take control of your computer, even if they say they are helping.
- Talk to someone you trust before you pay anyone. Scammers say “keep it secret.” Do the opposite.
Numbers I trust
Fill these in with a pen. Then you will not have to look for them when you are upset.
My bank: ______________________
My family: ______________________
Our family code word: ______________________
A code word is one only your family knows. If a caller says they are family, ask for it.
