How we help
Here is what we can do for you. Safety and scam protection are part of every visit.
For homes
Computers, phones and tablets. Wi-Fi and home networks. Printers. Email and accounts. TVs and streaming. Smart home devices such as a doorbell with a camera or a speaker you talk to. Video calls and doctor visits by video. Software, updates and backups. Moving your photos and contacts to a new device.
For small businesses
Setting up a small office: computers, Wi-Fi and the office network, printers, email and accounts for staff, backups (a spare copy of your files), and software and updates. We also fix the everyday problems that slow a small team down. We explain what we do in plain words, and you keep control of your accounts.
For older adults
Older adults pay much less, and some help is free for those who need it. We agree the details in a written plan before any visit. Read more about help for older adults.
Ways to work with us
Scam & Fraud Check-up
What we do
A visit at home or by video to look at how scams reach you: phone, text, email, mail and the door. We set up call and text blocking where your phone company offers it, check that your email and online accounts are safe, set up a family code word (a word only your family knows) and a one-page "what to do" card to keep by the phone, and show you how to check a call or message. We write down who to call: your bank, your family, and the right reporting sites.
What you leave with
You know what to do when a suspicious call or message comes. Your phone and email let fewer scam calls and messages through. You have a card by the phone with the steps and the numbers to call.
Device & Account Setup and Safety
What we do
We set up or tidy a phone, tablet or computer: large text, automatic updates (so the device fixes its own weak spots), backups (a spare copy of your photos and files), contacts, photos, video calls and signing in to your doctor’s website. We coach you to set up a password manager yourself. That is a safe place that remembers your passwords. We also coach you to turn on two-step sign-in, where a code is sent to your phone as well as your password. And we help you choose recovery contacts, who help you get back in if you are locked out. We also help you use a smart doorbell, speaker or help button you already own.
What you leave with
A phone, tablet or computer that is easier to read and use. Your photos and files are copied somewhere safe. You can sign in to your accounts, and get back in if you are locked out.
Ongoing Help Plan
What we do
A recurring arrangement with short scheduled visits and a way to ask for help between visits. Every few months we look over your settings and accounts again to see if anything needs fixing. After each visit you get a plain-language note, and so does one family member if you choose.
What you leave with
A patient person to call when something goes wrong. Regular check-ups, so small problems do not grow. A written note each time.
Family Peace-of-Mind Setup
What we do
A short plan made with the older adult present: who the trusted contact is, what that contact may see (nothing without consent), a shared emergency card with the numbers to call, the family code word, and the trusted-contact forms the person completes with their bank. A trusted contact is someone the bank may call if it fears the customer is being cheated. It includes a family-only call about how to help without taking over.
What you leave with
One written plan that your parent and your family have agreed to. Everyone knows who to call, what the family may see, and what to do if a scam call comes. Your parent stays in charge.
Each person gets a written plan with the scope of the work. We talk about price on the call and agree it in that plan.
How a visit works
- Book the free 30-minute call. We listen, say what we can and cannot do, and decide if it fits.
- We write down what we will do, where, who may attend, and what we will not do. You agree before any visit.
- You tell us what has gone wrong. We never ask for passwords. If we need to see something, you type it yourself.
- The visit is at home or by video, and unhurried. You hold the device. We explain each step and stop for questions.
- After the visit you get a one-page note in large type: what we did, what changed, and who to call if something odd happens.
- If you are in a plan, we follow up a few weeks later with a short check by email or a booked call, to see how things are going.
What we do not do
- We never handle money: no paying bills, moving funds, buying for you, or holding cards.
- We never keep or ask for passwords or codes. You type your own.
- We never take control of your computer from far away unless you are on the phone with us and say yes. You start it and you end it.
- We never call, text or email people who did not ask. Scammers do that. We do not.
- We never sell equipment, take commissions, or require a purchase.
- We never share anything about you with family or anyone else without your yes.
- We never give medical, legal or financial advice.
- We never pressure. You can stop at any time.
Free help we also recommend
Senior Planet from AARP offers free live online classes on technology and staying safe. Your county Office for the Aging and your public library may offer help sessions too. The AARP Fraud Watch Network has a free fraud helpline. If a free class is a better fit, we will tell you.
Doors, alarms and help buttons
We cover the phone, tablet and accounts. Security Medic Physical designs the door, alarm and help button. It is one set of questions, so you are never asked the same thing twice.
